Bishop Morrow Centre, was opened in 1968 on Aug.8th by Bishop Louis L.R Morrow , our Father Founder, the then Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Krishnagar as one of the branches of the Catechist Sisters of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians. The aim of this centre was to give an opportunity for young women, both married and unmarried, irrespective of caste and creed and faith, to develop their in born talents and express them freely, also develop their potentials and help them to come out of their enclosure in a male dominant society. The centre was named as Young Women’s Cultural Centre. It began to function with few women for spoken English. In 1969, when Bishop Morrow retired from the diocese, upon the request of the Public in memory of the works he has done, the Young Womens’ Cultural Centre was renamed as Bishop Morrow Centre. Cultural Classes in Fine Arts like Katak dance, Indian Music, Tabala , Drawing , Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya, were started here only for women under the title of BISHOP MORROW CULTURAL CENTRE.
Dear good friends of Bishop Morrow Industrial Training Centre,
I am happy to present to you a brief outline on the growth and development of our humble Training Centre that has been doing much good for the womenfolk of our city of Krishnagar over the past 50 years. Many miracles have happened unknown to the world at large and many lives have been touched and changed for the better. Nevertheless, we still need your support and collaboration to offer much more to aid our less fortunate Sisters and mothers who can play a far better role at home and in our present day society and find fulfillment in their lives.
